First of all, thank you, a very special thank you, to all the nurses, nursing assistants, technicians and specialists, house-keepers, doctors, orderlies, food preparers, maintenance personnel, home care providers, nursing home personnel, social workers – and anyone we may have inadvertently left off this listing – for providing important care for our communities and patients, at your personal risk, during this very serious time as the world addresses this dangerous coronavirus pandemic.

The Patient Safe Staffing Coalition is taking the next few weeks to focus our attention on providing nurses and other direct caregivers with connections to various sources of vital information to assist in protecting themselves and their families as they work diligently to assist our community in fighting the Coronavirus Disease COVID-19.

Hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and home centered nursing and care services are all pulling together along with the New Mexico Department of Health (NM DOH) and the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to equip direct care providers with information, and hopefully the proper equipment to do their work.

We will be dedicating a substantial amount of our website to coverage of reporting on this serious and challenging threat to people throughout the world and here at home in New Mexico.

At the top left corner of the Home Page of our patientsafestaffing.org website you will find a logo entitled COCA, which is the acronym for the Clinician Outreach & Communication Activity emergency operation of the CDC which “provides timely, accurate, and credible information to clinicians related to emergency preparedness and response and emerging public health threats. COCA fosters partnerships with national clinician organizations to strengthen information-sharing networks before, during, and after a public health emergency.”

Click on the logo to be linked to an important resource of information for the clinicians who care for those who contract the Coronavirus as well as all of those being screened for the disease.

More to come later, but as a heads up you can also check our Menu just below the Patient Safe Staffing Header on our home page and click on the menu item labelled “Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resources” to link to a page of information from a number (and growing number) growing number of agencies and organizations.

We’ll keep adding information regularly.
